On a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Alison in one of my favourite locations in London. We did have to make some adjustments to the schedule, courtesy of the very unpredictable weather we’ve been having in England this month. Thankfully, it all worked out beautifully.

Alison is a graphic designer and actress and I was grateful for the opportunity to create striking portraits of her. We had a 1 hour session, multiple outfit changes and a promise of minimal chance of rain, so we got to work.

I had brought some organza fabric with me, to create a hazy effect on the photos which resulted in some very dreamy shots. There is one top that Alison changed into that seemed to match the surroundings perfectly and the final photos of that set radiate a sense of romance and nostalgia that I’m very proud to have created. It reinforced the importance of doing the background work prior the shoot itself - having a clear idea of what I’m looking to create and communicating with my client so that we’re both on the same page really goes a long way to ensuring that the actual shoot goes as planned. Having said that, I always leave room to improvise as there’s a lot in the process of storytelling that is revealed to you as you go along, and that’s definitely part of the magic.

Alison was so lovely to work with, and her collaborative nature and the bright energy she brought to the shoot really made the whole experience a breeze. It was tricky narrowing down the photos, but I hope you enjoy the ones I’ve selected for this post!
